Clinics

The Civitan International Research Center provides clinical services for thousands of children and adults through the Civitan-Sparks Clinics. The Clinics accept professional or self-referrals to evaluate and diagnose children for developmental disabilities, behavioral and learning disorders. Clinicians from different disciplines assist parents and caregivers in obtaining appropriate therapeutic and support services for children determined to have a developmental, behavioral or learning disorder. Sparks clinicians also provide technical assistance for teachers and agency staff members to prepare them to serve children with a diagnosed disorder. The Civitan-Sparks Clinics staff may also provide services out in the community in a child's natural setting - such as at home, a day care or other appropriate location.

Other clinical services are offered such as the Life Projects which provides life coaches for adults with developmental disabilities to live and work more independently in their communities. The ADHD summer treatment program is a six week intensive program for children diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. Constraint induced therapy now known as Aquire-c Therapy is another intensive treatment program designed for children with hemiplegic conditions in order to encourage greater use of the affected arm and hand.

An important strength of the Civitan International Research Center is to take what we learn through our basic and clinical research programs to individuals with developmental disabilities in our clinics and in the community to help them achieve their best quality of life.
